Ryan Cardiff

Ryan Cardiff grew up by the sea, where his grandfather introduced him to photography at the age of four, teaching him to capture fleeting moments with clarity and sensitivity. Through the lens, he developed an early appreciation for organic forms, from flowers and insects to expansive natural landscapes. Time spent living in Australia and Canada further nurtured his creative perspective and led to a growing interest in painting.

After graduating in 2018 with a BA in Photography from Roehampton University, Ryan turned his focus to painting, exploring the vibrancy and immediacy of pastels. His work is deeply rooted in a fascination with the natural world, translating its beauty into expressive, loose, semi-abstract compositions.

Through dynamic mark-making and layered techniques, Ryan approaches each piece as a balance between control and spontaneity, allowing space for both intention and discovery within his work.
