Austrian Chalet Kitchen

1/4

LINLEY was commissioned by a private client to design the kitchen for Skyfall, a one-of-a-kind chalet in the Austrian ski resort of St Christoph. This remarkable project marked the first new building constructed in the village in over fifty years, navigating strict planning regulations to create a home that feels entirely rooted in its alpine surroundings.

The client requested that the kitchen reflect the authentic character of the chalet’s interior, defined by locally sourced materials. To achieve this, reclaimed Austrian Stone Hearted Spruce—a timber used prominently throughout the home—was incorporated as a key feature. This timber was transported to the LINLEY workshop in the UK, where it was reworked into a bespoke design in collaboration with the client. Once complete, it was returned to Austria and hand-finished on site with a whitening treatment to maintain its natural, time-worn texture.

Granite flooring and Mystic Grey Satino granite worktops provide a contemporary contrast to the warm tones of the timber. Beaten copper splashbacks and sleek glass and steel appliances bring additional texture and visual depth, contributing to a design that balances raw authenticity with refined modern craftsmanship.
