Debbie Urquhart (b. 1972)

Debbie graduated from Newcastle University with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 1995. Her work is held in private collections across Europe and North America, and she has exhibited extensively in both group and solo exhibitions in London, as well as internationally in locations including Palm Beach and Nantucket Island in the United States. Based in Greenwich, where she lives with her family and three cats, Debbie creates works that weave together the shapes and colours of the world around her into balanced and harmonious compositions, ranging from figurative works to simplified abstractions.

Colour and composition are central to Debbie’s practice. She interprets the radial warmth and linear cooling effects of sunrises and sunsets through a contemporary palette that is distinctly English, drawing inspiration from the harmonious pigments found in historic interiors dating back to the seventeenth century.
