Keepsake Boxes
A client requested a set of trinket boxes for their grandchildren, each to be gifted on a fifth birthday. Every piece needed to express the individuality of the child, while together forming a story the family could treasure for generations.
As with every bespoke project, it began with listening. Through conversations and portraits, we built an understanding of each child’s personality and interests. Materials, proportions and finishes followed, alongside ideas for the small treasures each box might one day hold. During development, a unifying concept emerged. Rather than four separate designs, each box became a miniature theatre scene. Individually they reflected each child’s world, and together they formed a single family tableau.
From hand-drawn sketches to full-colour renders, the design evolved through close collaboration. Final details were shaped by the client, from larger unicorns to woodland creatures. The project became so meaningful that a fifth box was later commissioned for their daughter.
