London based American artist Richard Neergaard creates unique automotive art. His work invites the viewer on a journey that begins with curiosity: "What is it?" followed by "How was it made?" He often hears "I've never seen anything like this before" when people see his art.
After a career in Innovative Marketing, where Richard invented the "Finish PowerBall " dishwasher tablet, he combined his love of art with his passion for motorsport.
Richard developed his unique style of art by taking a 2D image of a car and dividing it into equal rectangles placed precisely onto laser-cut aluminium plates CNC bent to exactly 30 degrees at contrasting angles on a Perspex panel. This allows you to see the car image clearly when viewed head-on, but it has an abstract 3D effect when viewed from a different angle. Richard includes a part of the real car in the artwork, giving his art another unique characteristic which has become his signature.
