Townhouse Greater London

1/9

Commissioned by a team of architects, LINLEY designed a family kitchen within a new build in Kingston upon Thames. The brief called for a space that could accommodate the demands of everyday family life—cooking, gathering, and entertaining—while maintaining a sleek and spacious aesthetic.

The layout was intentionally kept simple to maximise both form and function. At its centre, a large island constructed in solid beech with a grey paint finish anchors the space. This finish continues through the floor cabinetry, which wraps around two sides of the island and incorporates a walnut breakfast bar and open shelving. By avoiding upper cabinets, the design creates a sense of openness and offers space for displaying artwork.

On the opposite wall, a run of solid walnut cabinetry provides ample storage and a visual counterpoint to the pale finishes. It houses all the essential appliances, including a double larder, twin ovens, a full-height fridge and freezer, and a wine fridge—balancing utility with refined craftsmanship.
