PASSION AT AN EARLY AGE

From an early age, David’s creative ability was nurtured by his parents who both encouraged his passion for making things. His talented father, the eminent photographer Lord Snowdon was particularly influential having himself trained as an architect and designed, amongst other things, the Aviary at London Zoo.

AN EDUCATION IN CRAFT

David attended Bedales School at the age of 13, which is where he developed an avid interest in wood-working. He went on to hone these skills at Parnham House School for Craftsmen in Wood in Dorset. On leaving he set up his own cabinet-making business, David Linley & Co. now simply known as LINLEY.

I was fortunate enough to be taught by the great furniture maker, John Makepeace. At Parnham he encouraged us beyond our comfort zones into the realms of excellence. Now, almost 30 years on, those principles are still with me.”
