Observing the juxtaposition between old and new architecture in the city, the lid of the Doha Skyline Box depicts an authentic wind tower, a traditional solution for natural air conditioning in Middle Eastern architecture, alongside the modern structure of the Museum of Islamic Art. In the background the skyscrapers of the city rise into the azure sky, with the scene completed by an Arabic dhow boat in intricate marquetry. In a tromp l’oeil design reminiscent of an ancient greek mural, the whole scene is viewed through a row of stone arches, producing a 3D optical illusion.
The jewellery box is lined in elegant powder grey faux suede with a removable tray, compartmentalised for storing cufflinks, rings, necklaces, watches and other keepsakes.The Skyline Boxes are handcrafted in dark stained walnut and highlighted by nickel stringing on the lid. The boxes are lockable and have a sterling silver escutcheon, perfect for engraving a name, initials, special date or message. The Skyline Boxes are also available as a humidor.
