Masterpiece Fair is the leading international fair for art, antiques and design. Showcasing works that span over 5,000 years of art history, from antiquity to the present day, the Fair creates an unparalleled event for collectors, and provides something of interest for every visitor. The Fair takes places at the South Gardens of The Royal Hospital Chelsea between 30th June and 6th July. LINLEY will be positioned at Stand B7.   For Masterpiece London 2016 we are celebrating thirty years of LINLEY furniture by showcasing the creative process, from that first moment to the completed piece.   Masterpiece Banner 2     The Story…   Each commissioned piece at LINLEY is borne of an idea - it might be a photograph, an image, a moment - and from that starting point the client and the LINLEY designer work in collaboration to create a truly unique masterpiece of design and craftsmanship.   Back in October 2015, on one of his many travels to the Arabian Gulf in his role as Honorary Chairman of Christie’s Europe Middle East, Russia and India, David Linley’s fascination with Islamic art and architecture was reignited. A photograph of a vibrant tile mosaic pattern was sent back to the LINLEY studio on Pimlico Road, inspiring the design of the spectacular Girih Treasure Chest and Anniversary Jewellery Box.   Girih Inspiration     The Girih Treasure Chest explores Islamic pattern through detailed wooden marquetry in brilliant sapphire blue and rich gold tones. Girih is an Islamic decorative art form consisting of geometric lines that create an interlaced framework. As if a precious stone in a delicate claw setting, the chest perches on a simple sycamore frame which is supported by a forged brass metal stretcher.   Girih Chest     The Anniversary Jewellery Box is an abstract interpretation of the pearl fishing waters around Doha and the Arabian Gulf. The shades of moving blue water are portrayed in hand-tinted marquetry tiles of plain and ripple sycamore veneers and mother of pearl.   Anniversary Jewellery Box   Learn more about 'Creating a Modern Masterpiece' by visiting the LINLEY stand on Thursday 30th June at 4pm where there will be an exclusive talk from founder David Linley and Creative Director Carmel Allen.
