Pavarotti: Life in Art

A unique ode to artistry in its finest form, Universal Music, LINLEY and the Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti are delighted to have collaborated to create a limited-edition art compendium celebrating the passions of the musical icon, Luciano Pavarotti.

The universally acclaimed Italian tenor touched the hearts of millions throughout his career but few knew that behind the scenes Pavarotti was an accomplished painter. Marking ten years since his death, the Pavarotti Art Case is designed to celebrate a life lived in art with a unique collaboration between makers of music and marquetry.

The box exterior features the score to ‘Nessun Dorma’ crafted from fumed figured eucalyptus and walnut veneers, celebrating Pavarotti’s devotion to creative expression in all forms.

The internal marquetry of the Pavarotti Art Case portrays Pavarotti’s painting of Venice in 26 hand-tinted veneers. Inside, Pavarotti’s expansive creative output – both on and off stage – is brought together for the first time. Alongside limited-edition prints of his paintings and a specially-commissioned book, a digital music player contains his entire recordings with Decca, totalling 130 hours of audio.

The player also contains the world’s most elusive opera recordings: newly-discovered tapes, retrieved from Decca’s archives and mixed in immersive audio to create an overwhelming three-dimensional sound experience, as if Pavarotti is performing in your home.

The collection is completed by a full working set of 16 oil paints and 14 brushes from Winsor & Newton with the exact palette Pavarotti himself used.

This unique item – the first in the Decca Luxe Masterpieces series – supports the educational cause of the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation, which helps aspiring young opera singers. A limited edition of 10 ‘Life in Art’ pieces is available to pre-order now for delivery in January 2019.  Owners receive white-glove service from art  handlers and acousticians to install the piece at home, and a money-can’t-buy dining experience from Pavarotti’s own chef at the residence in Modena.

Whether you are commissioning a piece of furniture for a house or yacht, an architectural desk or box, or a bespoke accessory, we aim to make the process as seamless as possible from start to finish.

At our flagship store LINLEY Belgravia, we will be delighted to show you examples of our work, introduce you to your design team and discuss your requirements in detail. Examples of previously commissioned pieces and samples such as woods, fabrics and leather are used to help visualise the initial concepts.
