British design company LINLEY prides itself on its dedication to the pursuit of excellence in the design and creation of fine furniture and interiors. The individual sense of taste and style of the founder and Chairman, David Linley, is prevalent in all that we do. Through David's own training as a cabinet-maker in the traditional vein, the company draws on centuries of excellence in the British tradition of cabinet-making, and to this applies a modern interpretation creating contemporary items that have their own distinct identity and freshness.
The company projects an idiosyncratic modern British luxury infused with David's particular insight into the unique British sensibility lending the brand authority and distinction. LINLEY pieces have longevity, their quality of construction and on-going stylistic relevance making them future classics.
The LINLEY company is based in London although its client base is international. There are two shops, LINLEY Belgravia (60 Pimlico Road) and LINLEY Mayfair (46 Albemarle Street). From these shops, the core retail collections are sold encompassing furniture, upholstery and accessories of a superlative quality. In addition to this the company offers a bespoke service and more recently an interior design service. LINLEY also has a strong e-commerce business selling gifts and home accessories on-line.
The LINLEY company initially specialized in the creation of bespoke furniture - one off pieces created for private individuals or businesses, ranging from small pieces such as architectural boxes and humidors and panelled rooms to desks riddled with secret drawers. This ability to create such exquisitely crafted pieces remains at the core of what the business does today, but has evolved into a wider offering. The company has moved from the tradition of bespoke furniture making through to that of sophisticated cabinet designers, interior designers and retailers. A specially designated interior design team works alongside our cabinet-making designers to put together unique interior design schemes which incorporate LINLEY bespoke and retail pieces alongside items sourced from elsewhere to create complete, unique schemes.
Interiors we have created to date range from private residences such as an apartment in Norman Foster's Chesa Futura building in St Moritz through to commercial projects such as the complete interior design of over 21 suites at Claridge's London where LINLEY has been named the 21st Century legacy designer. The company has also designed interiors for private jets, yachts and restaurants, the Goring Hotel and the Sloane Club being among the most recent. Other high profile clients include Oprah Winfrey, Carolina Herrera, Jo Malone and Joseph Ettedgui.
Part of the company's ethos is to use the architecture of the building to inspire the creation of the interior setting, whether it is completely modern, Art Deco or 19th Century. We do not ever slavishly copy the past but rather we take all that is best from it applying a modern freshness bringing it into the 21st century. Indeed this is the company's ethos in furniture design - use the past as inspiration to create contemporary classics of today, thus demonstrating an 'evolution of tradition'. The basic precepts of integrity that underline British design and excellence are applied in all that we do.
In the two London shops, LINLEY Belgravia and LINLEY Mayfair, retail collections of furniture, upholstery, gifts and accessories are sold to a LINLEY customer who is both sophisticated and discerning. Exemplary customer service is of paramount importance in keeping with the spirit of the brand - to surprise, to delight and to inspire.
